 Standards Of Care
4 Critical Standards To Demand From Your PT Provider
If You Want The Best Possible Outcomes

1 Better Outcomes: At Tru Rehab, our philosophy is that educated patients will achieve better outcomes, so when patients don't complete their treatment successfully, who's fault is that? The best therapy providers follow quality assurance programs that measure and report the results. Research shows that quality assurance programs combined with patient education increase patient compliance and improve outcomes.

  • At Tru Rehab, after the initial evaluation, patients receive a detailed explanation summarizing their recommended treatment program. In addition, patients are provided access to the Tru Rehab online library of patient guides and Frequently Asked Questions to help them understand the potential benefits of each treatment program to reduce pain, speed recovery, and restore maximum function.

  • Whether a patient comes to our clinic with or without a prescription, the physical therapist at Tru Rehab will communicate with their physician to facilitate collaborative care.

  • Upon completion of care, Tru Rehab patients are surveyed by T.A.O.S., a national data base of physical therapy quality measures used by the insurance industry to assure consistency and quality within the physical therapy profession. This provides important data on patient outcomes and patient satisfaction.

  • Tru Rehab is a member of the Physical Therapy Provider Network (PTPN). PTPN is a selective network that requires members to adhere to rigorous peer reviewed quality standards. Only a small number of therapy clinics meet the requirements to qualify to be a member of PTPN.

2 Quality Assurance: PThelps provides care best suited to patients, NOT insurance companies. Many PT providers set up their practice to minimize costs in response to the continued pressure from insurance companies. One of the most common industry-wide reactions to this pressure is to reduce visit times and pass off patients to which ever therapist or lower paid unlicensed aides is available at that time. Tru Rehab recognizes that this can greatly impact the quality of care and the patient experience.

  • At Tru Rehab patients don't need to worry about being passed off to whom ever is available on their follow up visits. At Tru Rehab you will work with the same therapists each visit to ensure proper communication and progression of your program.

  • At Tru Rehab, waiting is viewed as a major inconvenience - unacceptable to you and to us. Time spent in the reception area shouldn't exceed 5 minutes, except in rare situations. A therapist's or physician's time is not worth more than yours

3 Continuing Therapist Training and Education: Therapists in the state of {your state} are required by the state licensing board to meet certain criteria to be eligible for continued licensure. This criteria includes 30 hours of continuing education per year. If a therapist is scraping by with the bare minimum, it tells you a bit about their commitment to the profession. You should ask yourself, "Do you want a team of therapists that meet only minimum requirements?"

  • At Tru Rehab we require the same 30 hours as the State of {your state}, but also require our therapists to participate in weekly continuing education program held in house. This increases our therapists continuing education time to over 80 hours per year.

  • Today, with more options than ever for patients to choose from a variety of physical therapists with diverse specialties and training, Tru Rehab advocates patient selection of their physical therapy provider. In many cases, patients can begin care or seek consultation without waiting for a referral. Choosing a therapist based on convenience and location only has become a thing of the past. However, it is our policy to collaborate with a patient's physician about his or her care.

4 Evidence Based Practice: To optimize outcomes, therapists should use the latest evidence based clinical tools to assess and treat orthopedic, neurological, and pain conditions. Believe it or not, many therapists find themselves out of touch with the latest evidence based treatments.

  • Tru Rehab is an active participant in the American Physical Therapy Association's Hooked On Evidence program. This assures new research is incorporated as it becomes available.

  • At Tru Rehab, all care is supervised by the Senior Therapist that has special training in specific conditions. For more specific information, see our services page.
